The short answer is yes. But here are some things to check on:
- Your alarm system backup power supply
- your alarm system alert beeps
- your alarm system app notifications
Power outages can occur for many reasons, from extreme weather to local equipment issues. Because of this, your Guardian system has a back-up power source to help keep your system functioning while power is hopefully restored.
Alarm System Back-Up Power Supply
When the power goes out in your home, you may get a notification on the Guardian App. Also, your system will revert to back-up battery power which may last 4 to 6 hours. This will trigger a beeping sound from your system. Typically, if you disarm your system in the way that you normally do, the beeping will stop.
If power continues to be unavailable for several hours, your system will likely restart beeping roughly every 4 hours at which time you’ll have to disarm your system again. When the power is restored to your panel, the panel battery will usually start to recharge and fully restore battery power within 24-48 hours.

Alarm System Beeping
Your alarm system should continue to transmit signals to Guardian’s 24/7 monitoring center even if the battery is low, provided the signal communication method your system uses is still functioning and has not experienced problems due to the extreme weather. If your system powers down because of insufficient battery or its communication method is down, your system will no longer transmit signals.
